WEMUS Be Vance:

WEMUS Be Home > Beginning Credits > This is Vance

My origins begin in the small town of Thibodeaux,(let’s not go there) Louisiana.  This town is famous for absolutely nothing.  Lucky for me, my parents were of the pioneering spirit.  With two kids, ages two and five, Rod and Jo Duplechin, my parents, packed up the cars and headed west.

They drove until they hit the beaches of California.  Hollywood was the first place that I can remember.  If only we would have stayed there.  My Father went a different route.  He took us from the sunny beaches to the arid desert of Saudi Arabia.  Lucky for me, oil was being found in every orifice of the globe.

I followed my Father from Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates, Scotland, Thailand, Indonesia, and oh my god, back to south Louisiana.  I did my time in Lafayette, Louisiana at the University of Southwest Louisiana.  The weekend of my graduation I escaped west.

Unfortunately, my voyage west only led me to Spring, Texas, a small suburb of Houston.  In this small suburb I met the most beautiful woman in the world.  When I first asked her for a date, she turned my down and shooed me away.  Not able to take the word “No” for answer I suggested that we have dinner, do a little dancing and see what happens.  We were married five months later.

Today, Sandy and I live in Spring with our son Lancaster T. Duplechin.  He is 13 years old and keeps me on my toes.  That is the only way that I can look in him in the eye.  I fear that in a few years I’ll need a step stool.  Nevertheless, the three of us chase our dreams in different ways.  Sandy and I write while Lancaster auditions.  Our journey west will pick up again, very soon.

In the 2006 Screenwriting Expo Vance Duplechin received a top 25 mention for “For A Fathers Honor” in the screenplay competition.
